This website is run by Erika Papp-Kovacs as a personal research and information site. This policy explains what personal data may be involved when you use it and how it is handled.

Who is responsible

What this site does

This is an informational website about environmental law research. I am a student researcher, not a practising lawyer. Nothing on this site is legal advice.

What data we collect on this website

We do not run user accounts, analytics or marketing tools on this site. We do not ask you to log in, and we do not use contact forms that store messages on the server.

We may process personal data only in these situations:

  • Everyday topic enquiries: if you choose to email me, your email provider and mine will process your email address, message content and any details you include. The address is not displayed on the site; you open your own email client to send a message.
  • Professional enquiries: if you contact me via LinkedIn or book a call through Calendly, those services process your data under their own privacy policies.
  • Technical data: when you load pages, standard server and content-delivery logs (for example through GitHub Pages) may temporarily record information such as IP address, browser type and pages requested. We do not use this information to identify or profile visitors.

Where EU data protection law applies, processing is based on:

  • Legitimate interests — operating and securing an informational website and responding to enquiries you choose to send.
  • Consent — where you initiate contact by email or through a third-party service.

How long we keep data

  • Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping, then deleted or archived according to normal practice.
  • Data held by LinkedIn, Calendly, your email provider or GitHub is governed by their retention policies.

Your rights

If EU or UK GDPR applies to you, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability where relevant. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

This site links to external services (for example LinkedIn and Calendly). Their privacy practices are separate from this website. Please read their policies before using them.

We do not track you with cookies

This website does not use cookies for analytics, advertising or visitor profiling. We do not operate a cookie banner because we do not set tracking or non-essential cookies.

What that means in practice

  • We do not use Google Analytics or similar tools.
  • We do not use social-media tracking pixels.
  • We do not store preferences in cookies on your device for marketing purposes.

Technical notes

When you browse the site, your browser may load fonts and icons from third-party content networks (for example Google Fonts and Font Awesome). Those providers may receive standard technical data such as your IP address when assets are requested. We do not control their processing; see their privacy notices for details.

If you follow a link to LinkedIn, Calendly or another external site, that site may set its own cookies. Those cookies are not controlled by this website.
